Alco-Bio-Fuel is building a bio-ethanol factory with 80.000 ton capacity in the port of Ghent that will process cereals and sugar by-products. The shareholders of Alco-Bio-Fuel are Alcogroup, Vanden Avenne Izegem, Vandema(Eurosilo), Aveve and Wal.agri. The plant is expected to go in production towards the end of 2006.

Bioro will build the first Belgian biodiesel plant in the Ghent harbour. The plant with a capacity of 200.000 ton of biodiesel will be based on vegetable oils. Bioro will introduce biodiesel on the Belgian market towards October 2007.

Electrabel is a European energy company, member of the Suez group, active in the domain of electricity production and sales. In Europe, Electrabel operates 28.776 MW of installed power generation, most of it in Belgium. For electricity generation, Electrabel uses conventional as well as renewable energy, including some 610.000 ton of biomass in the form of olive pulp, wood pellets, sewage sludge and coffee grounds.
SPE is the second largest energy producer and supplier in Belgium. SPE operates electricity plants, windmill parks, hydropower plants and biomass and biogas installations at 18 sites in Flanders and Wallonia. The group supplies electricity and gas to both the residential and commercial market under the Belgian brand name of Luminus. SPE has a client base of more than 1.5 million people with a workforce totalling approximately 1,000 employees.

Organic Waste Systems (OWS) is active in the anaerobic treatment of municipal solid waste and industrial organic waste. OWS has developed the DRANCO process for the anaerobic digestion of waste, a technology that is marketed throughout the world. OWS also offers laboratory testing services for biodegradability, compostability, ecotoxicity, and simulation of biological waste treatment.

Oiltanking is a worldplayer in the storage market for bulk liquids, including petroleum and chemical products. Oiltanking operates worldwide 71 independent tank terminals, marine facilities and 1.700 km of pipelines in 19 countries situated at 4 continents. Oiltanking operates in Ghent a worldclass terminal of 700.000 m3, capable of handling all transportmodi including sea going vessels up to 65.000 DWT, barges, trucks, railcars and pipelines.
Oleon Biodiesel is a subsidiary of Oleon, based in Ertvelde, Ghent. Oleon manufactures biodegradable chemical components from renewable natural resources (natural oils and fats). As such Oleon ranks as nr 3 within the European oleochemical industry.
